Diablo 3 patch 1.0.5 doesn’t bring much in the way of nerfs to Monks, they’re relatively safe…for now. The devs have openly discussed nerfing One With Everything they just don’t know how to do it yet.
Breath of Heaven’s skill rune Infused with Light will generate 6 to 8 additional Spirit per hit for 5 seconds up from a flat 6 before. Dashing Strike’s animation now scales with attack speed, and the speed bonus for the Mantra of Evasion skill rune Wind Through the Reeds is increased from 5% to 8%.
The passives are where most Monk changes/nerfs are happening: Seize the Initiative will now only provide a 50% armor bonus from Dexterity, down from 100% and Resolve’s damage reduction is reduced from 25% to 20%.
The good changes to passives would be Beacon of Ytar increased cooldown reduction by 20% up from 15%, Near Death Experience’s cooldown has been reduced from 90 seconds to 60 seconds, and Pacifism now works on Freeze and Immobilize effects.
Short list of changes for Monks although I feel that the Monk class needs the least amount of “balancing” (nerfing) along with the Witch Doctor. There just didn’t seem to be too many overpowered builds coming from here. Maybe the next patch is the big nerf stick for this class. Either way if you’re a Monk you’re safe for now.
